The project “Improving the level of safe education for children and adolescents affected by war in the Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions of Ukraine” is implemented by the NGO “Equilibrium Point” in partnership with the international organization Plan International and the NGO DOCCU with financial support from the European Union – this is the largest project in terms of geography and complexity of assistance provided, implemented by the NGO “Equilibrium Point” in 2025.
We worked in 5 communities, including in remote rural settlements, where people mostly have no other opportunity to receive similar services and assistance.
Key interim results of the project:
• 4 multidisciplinary mobile teams (psychologist, social worker, speech therapist) were created, working in 5 communities;
• 4,236 children, adolescents, parents and educators received over 14,400 services thanks to visits by multidisciplinary mobile teams, 361 people were referred to specialized services in communities;
• 1,255 people participated in information sessions on mental health and child protection;
• 2,000 children and adolescents from vulnerable categories received educational kits according to their age;
• 61 psychologists from 23 communities in target regions underwent a six-month program of professional training and supervisory support;
• 61 educational institutions and local civil society organizations received kits for psychosocial support of children and adolescents;
• 6 secondary education institutions in 4 communities of Sumy and Kharkiv regions received equipment for school shelters to ensure children’s access to continuous safe education;
• 268 professionals from 85 communities in the target regions underwent online training on minimum standards for child protection;
• 66 professionals from 7 communities underwent 4 offline trainings on training facilitators of the interactive educational exhibition “Mental Trek”;
• 62 pedagogical workers from 5 communities received 6 offline trainings on minimum standards for child protection and referral, prevention of gender-based violence, psychological first aid and first aid.
• A mapping of psychosocial support, education and child protection services in 6 communities of Donetsk, Sumy and Kharkiv regions was conducted and presented to humanitarian partners.
We have another six months of project implementation ahead of us. During this period, we will focus on deepening support, ensuring continuity of service provision in communities, and further strengthening the capacity of local professionals. We will continue to work where challenges remain daily and the need for support for children and adults is particularly acute. We combine humanitarian assistance, technical expertise and community partnerships to create solutions that not only work today, but also form the basis for recovery, resilience and a secure future for children and families.
